Inmidtown, the Business Improvement District (BID) that represents the commercial district encompassing Holborn, Bloomsbury and St Giles, is launching a series of dedicated walks for Graduate Walk Season, to time with the influx of new graduates and interns to businesses in this vibrant commercial centre.

Recognising that a quality working environment is key to attracting and retaining the highest calibre graduates, inmidtown has launched Graduate Walk Season in response to appetite from businesses to offer support for their workforce. The events aim to make the transition into their new environment as enjoyable as possible, offering graduates from different businesses the opportunity to meet, share experiences of first-time employment, forge useful working relationships – and hopefully a make some friends along the way.

On a more practical level the walks will enable the new business recruits to fully discover and explore their new environment. inmidtown guide, Aly Mir, who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the district, will cover off everything from the best lunch spots, to the best value pint, local libraries and useful resource providers – as well as areas of historical and cultural significance in the district.

Edwina Goldman, Director of recruitment consultancy, JFL, comments, “These kind of initiatives are a great way for new employees to build relationships with colleagues and network with other workers in the district. This is an example of employers recognising the importance of offering value-added events to engage new recruits. Initiating them into the company an informal situation, such as a group walk, can help new intakes build long and lasting personal and professional relationships”.
