HR recruitment ‘has stabilised’

Recruitment of HR staff should begin to climb again by the end of this summer, it has been predicted.

The latest Monster Employment Index has revealed that there was a one point increase in the number of HR jobs being advertised online during June, taking it to 57, which could be a sign business confidence is returning and the economy is improving.

And while the number of jobs in all industries was down 38 per cent in comparison to June 2008, there was a one per cent increase over the course of the month from May.

In other sectors, there was an increase in recruitment demand recorded in the healthcare, training, social work, telecommunications and education industries.

Such news may be welcomed, after the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development revealed that UK unemployment rates reached 8.3 per cent during May as the recession rumbled on.

This was after March saw unemployment hit 7.2 per cent, 0.1 per cent higher than that recorded in February.
