More and more people are electing to search for temporary positions, according to a specialist recruiter.
A spokeswoman for Hays noted that it is becoming an increasingly popular wary of finding work, even among those who would never previously have considered short-term jobs.
"It is well rewarded, offers access to a variety of projects and helps people to avoid the dreaded office politics," she said.
The spokeswoman added that interim staff are usually brought in by an organisation to work on a particular project which needs to be completed.
She explained that as a result they need a range of skills and the ability to come into a workplace and hit the ground running immediately in order to be a success.
Her comments come shortly after the latest REC Jobs Outlook indicated that more and more employers are looking to expand their temporary workforces, with 85 per cent looking to take on more short-term staff.
