Article 1 – Research conducted by PwC discusses that, of 32,500 workers worldwide, half of employees report missing out on career opportunities/training due to discrimination.  

Also mentioned – A recent report by the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities urges companies to move away from unconscious bias training, branding it as “ineffective”.  

Article 2 – In the Budget, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the Government would be pouring £126 million into flexi-apprenticeships which would allow apprentices to work for a number of different employers in a single sector.  

Article 3 – The CIPD stated the apprenticeship levy had “failed on every measure” and “will undermine investment in skills and economic recovery without significant reform”.

James Marsh  is an Human Resources and Learning & Development Manager at Planet Organic.

James has particular interest in early careers, apprenticeships, social mobility, coaching and diversity employment. Most recently, he has led the design and delivery of apprenticeships for a £50m speciality retailer. To develop these apprenticeships and internship programmes, he built partnerships with leading educational providers, London borough councils and The London Progression Collaboration. As an active member of the London Apprenticeship Ambassador Network, he shares programme best practice and mentors businesses seeking to develop apprenticeships.
