MidlandHR has been re-awarded the Payroll Quality Partnership (PQP) accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP). This is the second time that MidlandHR has received the PQP certification, the first of which was obtained in 2009, when MidlandHR was one of the first companies to receive the award.

The PQP is a standards-based quality accreditation from the CIPP for organisations which achieve best practice in the development of payroll people. Launched in 2007, the PQP scheme is designed to enable payroll professionals to provide their customers with the highest level of value and service possible through effective payroll learning.

Declan McGrath, MidlandHR managing director, comments: “It is a fantastic achievement to be accredited by the CIPP, and it is testament to the hard work of everyone involved that we have again reached the high standards to which we aspire. At MidlandHR we proactively support the continuing development of our people throughout their careers, and we are pleased that our best practice payroll development programme has again been recognised by the CIPP through this accreditation.

“The vast majority of our outsourcing team are CIPP qualified or engaged in professional studies. Encouraging our people to fulfil their true potential through professional development enables them to progress their careers and to provide the highest quality service to our payroll outsourcing customers. Our people are speakers at various CIPP events and MidlandHR is also used as a CIPP case study to highlight the benefits of maintaining a best practice payroll development programme.”

Lindsay Melvin, chief executive of the CIPP and member of the PQP assessment panel adds: “MidlandHR has continued to show commitment to its payroll team and overall service to its clients which has led it to being re-accredited with the PQP award. The CIPP is working hard towards raising the profile and standing of payroll as a profession, and with the assistance of organisations such as MidlandHR this will become possible.”

To achieve the PQP standard, payroll providers must go through a rigorous assessment of induction, appraisal and development processes, incorporating a written application and site visits. The CIPP then assesses whether payroll staff are provided with the tools, support and encouragement to be the best in the industry, with only top performing payroll providers receiving the accreditation.

One of the more recent innovative MidlandHR team activities included the hosting and filming of a ‘payroll egg-sperts’ panel game show, putting five of MidlandHR’s payroll professional and industry bloggers to the test as customers sponsored a series of tough payroll questions in a bid to beat the experts.
