Director of marketing at online connectivity tool Citrix Online Andrew Millard revealed that more people are now choosing to fit work in around their lifestyle rather than the other way around.

“Our goals are now being aligned in that way where rather than having to clock in or clock out or be at your desk, you have a series of tasks that you need to complete and it almost doesn’t matter where you are,” he explained, adding that more people were collaborating online.

The new system is good for employers too, he emphasised, saying that there are no fixed costs because there is less need for a big office.

Recent research by recruitment firm Reed Specialist Recruitment found that just under half of all employees would like to work from home.

Mr Millard advised bosses that their workers may be more productive if they were allowed increased flexibility and would be able to do their job even on occasions where extreme weather or other conditions prevented them from coming to the office.
