An expert has claimed that work-based training schemes could be a good option for both employers and youngsters unsure of whether or not to make the move into higher education.
Sarah Clover of notgoingtouni.co.uk explained that apprenticeship schemes often provide a handy route into full-time employment with a particular company, as well as allowing firms to build long-lasting relationships with newly-hired staff.
"Apprenticeships and work based training are a great option, as participants get paid while they are working towards their qualification," she said. "They also offer much greater security to young people."
Ms Clover added that businesses across all sectors which hire apprentices are likely to reduce staff turnover and have a more knowledgeable and experienced workforce, with a stronger sense of worker loyalty another additional bonus.
