Sainsbury's training scheme creates 100 jobsRetail giant Sainsbury’s has revealed that its supplier trainee partnerships scheme has helped more than 100 participants find work since it was first introduced earlier this year.

A total of 104 individuals have been taken on by 66 of Sainsbury’s associates across a wide range of sectors – including retail, facilities management, construction and engineering – each earning 12-month paid contracts.

“I am absolutely thrilled that the partnerships have been such a success,” said Sainsbury’s property director Neil Sachdev. “By working closely with our suppliers, we have made a real difference to lives of over 100 people.”

Successful candidates were recently invited to meet with some of the supermarket firm’s senior executives at a special event at Sainsbury’s Holborn headquarters, where they learned more about Sainsbury’s past, present and future.

Earlier this week, Chartered Management Institute spokesman Mike Petrook claimed that opportunities to develop new skills are as important to many employees as a good salary.
