A recent expo geared towards offering better ways to promote diversity within companies was hailed a great success. The Diversity Career Show, the UK’s biggest nationwide careers event, organised in partnership with Stonewall, took place on Friday 22nd October in Covent Garden.

The show, offering diverse job seekers an opportunity to meet employers championing diversity within their organisations, proved to be a great success with just under 50 exhibitors taking part and 3,100 candidates attending throughout the day, exceeding expectations. The regional editions of the show are taking place in Edinburgh and Manchester on the 16th November at the Dynamic Earth Centre and 30th November at the Armitage Centre respectively.

Linda Riley, Diversity Career Show and Diversity Recruitment Company managing director comments: “Feedback from our exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive, with several of them already reserving stands for next year’s event. Compared with our 2009 show, 2010’s event showed a marked increase in both the number and quality of candidates.”

Laura Doughty, Stonewall’s deputy Chief Executive added, “Stonewall is proud to support the Diversity Careers Show for the second year. This year is even bigger than last year demonstrating that top class graduates want to work for employers who value a diverse work force.”

Candidates had the opportunity to meet some of UK’s most influential recruiters, from both the public and private sectors, such as Credit Suisse, American Express, IBM, Barclays, RBS, Royal Airforce, 2012 Olympics and many more, most of which will also be appearing at the regional shows.

Jemima Jefferson, European Diversity Manager, Credit Suisse, the show’s headline sponsor, comments: “Credit Suisse is again proud to be the headline sponsor of the Diversity Careers Show. Members of the LGBT Network attended the London show and will be attending the remaining two shows in Manchester and Edinburgh where they will be happy to talk to potential recruits about opportunities available at Credit Suisse.”
