This infographic from Mindflash shows the staggering cost of a bad hire, and not only in monetary terms.

38% of companies admit it making a bad hire due to the need to fill a position quickly and 11% admit they did not carry out adequate reference checks.

Interestingly, the majority of employers say that they can recognise a bad hire straight away due to poor attendance levels and and a failure to work well with other colleagues.

It goes on to recommend that one of the ways you can turn this around is to give your employee a great first day on the job. That sounds like good advice to us!
