Employers 'are overlooking talent'

UK employers are missing out on a huge talent pool by failing to offer their staff flexible working conditions, according to new research.

Figures, produced by WorkingMums.co.uk, indicate that, of 600 mothers surveyed, 90 per cent felt it was problematic to find the flexibility they require.

More than eight out of ten said that it was difficult to achieve flexible work that utilises their skills.

Additionally, over half of the women considered bosses to be unsympathetic to mothers.

Some employers, however, have realised the potential benefits of operating in a more accommodating way, according to the jobs website.

Alex Cheatle, manager director of lifestyle management company Ten UK commented: "For us time management is critical as is the ability to multi-task.

"Mums are great at managing time as they are used to keeping unmovable deadlines and to doing many things at once."

WorkingMums.co.uk provides its users with a database of jobs, employers and opportunities that offer an alternative to traditional working restrictions.
