The pink sick note is the med 5 and is used for backdating a patients incapacity. This cert will be phased out when the new fit note arrives.

Fit notes will not work in a million years! GPs have been rejecting the proposal as soon as it was first mooted. Employers asking for a medical report on an employee and asking when they can return to work and on what duties are routinely told a GP does not have the knowledge of the job and therefore cannot give a judgement. Fairly obvious one would think. The GP is there to serve the patient. If the patient says they have work related stress, that is what the GP puts on the sick note. GPs have about 10 mins appointment time per patient. They can either sign the patient off sick, or fit to work, in seconds. Deciding on what a patient is fit to do will take more than 10 mins so stands to reason that this will not happen when GPs are under such pressure and time constraints. The pink sick note indicates the GP issued it without seeing the patient - even more time saved. This is a dead duck proposal.
